Session Ten
The party finds themselves standing in the field they have traveled through, standing in front of the tree with the hole in it, peering into a seemingly parallel world. the party briefly chats amongst themselves, before suddenly, Rainn stumbles, hunched over arms around her torso. Blood drips onto the ground, the drops increase in frequency. Bishop rushes towards Rainn, grabbing her by the shoulders, shaking her. He quickly realizes that Rainn's bleeding from her scalp, nose, eyes, and mouth. Her pupils going from white, to pink, to red before she collapses. Rainn's breathing is not labored. In fact, she's breathing as if she were peacefully asleep. Bishop begins to do chest compressions on Rainn, blood spurting from her mouth with each compression, her eyes wide open. Bishop then sinks his teeth into Rainn's neck in a desperate attempt to keep her alive... but it fails. Rainn sinks into the marrow-like dirt... disappearing armor and all. Scraps has an intense reaction to seeing this, he quickly grabs at his hair screaming, tears streaming down his face. Seven and Bishop quickly feel as if they were exhausted, the intense weight of exhaustion dropping on them before they collapse into the marrow-yellow grass. Jax, thinking on his feet quickly fashions up a small sled-like contraption to pull Bishop and Seven if needed for travel. He pulls the two limp bodies onto the sled, then turning his attention to Scraps, He runs over to him, picking him up by the shirt and promptly slapping him across the face to get him to snap back to reality. Scraps begins to look confused, almost as if nothing had even happened, asking Jax whether he hit him or not. Seven soon finds himself in a foggy blue void, the space around him seemingly extending infinitely out in all directions. The silence is soon interrupted by "Hey, the new guy showed up!" "sorry, manifested behind ya." Seven turns around, casually greeting the strange being that stands before him.
The figure is tall and shadowy, a deep, deep blue thats' only interrupted by a pair of bright white eyes and a bright white grin. The figure also has tall horns that resemble a crescent moon, and hair that seemingly levitates as if it were underwater. They have a brief conversation about dreams and Seven being a strange anomaly amongst dreamers. Seven is new to dreaming, and Dream weaver states that seven is one of two dreaming robots. Seven is taken aback by this, and is shocked to hear that information. Seven then asks Dreamweaver if he is alive, and Dreamweaver said that would spoil the fun. Seven is not having fun. Seven then asks Dreamweaver whether he knows Kariendon, and Dreamweaver says yes, knowing that Seven would ask that. Dreamwaver warns Seven that Kariendon is not what it seems... and Seven dislikes that answer. And with that, Dreamweaver bids Seven farewell, since he's on quite a tight schedule. Bishop is then called to the void, being quite frazzled after the situation that just happened. He hears Dreamweaver greet him, and he whips around, spear in hand, snarling. "Woah coming in hot!" Dreamweaver says, holding up his hands. Dreamweaver is not taken aback by that... and the conversation soon begins to happen between the two. Dreamweaver introduces himself, Bishop was not a fan of his name stating it's a "Fake ass name". But Dreamweaver does not back down. They soon begin to talk about Rainn, Dreamwaver stating Rainn was his only soldier since he's knew to this whole "metaphysical being" thing. When pressed on what happend to her Dreamweaver simply says "When the ether opens its jaws, some choose to follow it's song." Bishop asks why DreamWeaver didn't interfere more and help Rainn through her problems... Dream weaver states he did the best he could, but his power doesn't extend far past the realm of the subconscious. outside of the dream realm, he has practically no influence. Bishop and Dreamweaver continue to chat, Bishop asking what Dreamweaver wants of him, and Dreamweaver replies with "I just need a favor. It's a difficult favor, but if you do this for me I'll give you some perks." Keeping his casual demeanor. Bishop asks for a pin to be put in that, and Dreamweaver obliges, not taking much issue with that. He also describes how their timeline is geared up for imminent collapse due to the fleshmachine, and how he's only really trying to help. Dreamweaver tells Bishop they'll chat about it soon, and he bids Bishop farewell, both Seven and Bishop wake up unharmed.
Jax, relieved that both of them are awake but taken aback at the whole situation, he tries to make sense of what happened and Bishop, very casually states that they're okay and he shouldn't worry and they should just step through he hole in the tree... and with that... the journey continues. They step through the hole in the tree, met with a strange sight. A mirror image of the field they are in but the grass is a deep, blood red. The ground is lit as if it were day but the sky remains starless, pitch black. A plinth lies in the center of the field with wires spilling out from it, a keyboard lies on top connected to an old yellowed monitor. Jax types onto the keyboard "Hello?" and the computer seemingly activates, displaying something on the screen... a curious string of symbols. After a perception check, seven finds a cypher wheel alongside a bloodstained note that reads "the Division between man and machine persists.... ?? Tries: II" time for a puzzle! The party soon solves it, finding out that the solution is "We toil in flesh, the science of ascension requires sacrifice. Blessed be the machine" Once this is typed in, the party begins to feel dizzy and they soon black out, waking up in a field lying in a circle, with a circle of wires around them. They soon find out that they are MILES away from where they first started, easily making a lot of progress in the blink of an eye. As they travel, they discover a patch of grass that's moving. Cautiously, the party approaches it, soon discovering a familiar face... it's Otis! Otis's head pops out of the grass, and he greets everyone, looking worse for wear. The party asks how Otis got all the way out here, and he says he just traveled through the forest like everyone else. They ask him why he looks so worse for wear, and the states that he ran into the King of the Forest on his way over, and he fell down the side of the mountain. But, like the party he too is trying to find the Ferrywoman, stating he wants to discover new animals across the lake. He also mentions that there are some pretty big tracks left in the earth and for the party to be careful. They party says their goodbyes, beginning their journey... To the party's dismay, dark clouds begin to collect in the sky and it begins to rain. a violent storm has begun, the players frantically looking around for any sort of shelter as hail begins to pelt them. Soon, a shelter is spotted. A rickety old shack! The party rushes over to it... but suddenly their hair begins to stand on end... Bishop quickly grabs scraps, lifting him up over his shoulder and running into the shack. Jax drops flat onto the ground and so does Seven. Soon the lightning splits the sky, violently striking Seven, causing him to completely shut down. after the lighting strikes and thunder crashes through the sky, Jax picks up Seven and drags him into the shelter as Scraps rushes over to the passed-out bot, seeing if he's okay. It's too rainy to look for food, and the night is cold... but the rain soon stops, and nothing disturbs the party in the night.
